The Normal CornBelters (23-49) failed to take advantage of Steven Felix's effort at the plate on Thursday, losing 13-10 to the London Rippers (25-35) at The Corn Crib.
Felix hit two home runs for the Normal CornBelters. Felix went 2-5 in the game with five RBIs and two runs scored. Felix homered in the third and ninth innings.
Both squads had things going at the plate, tallying 23 runs and 29 hits, including zero extra base hits. Managers of the two teams seemingly emptied their bullpens in search of the win, as there were eight pitchers used in the game.
The London Rippers scored six runs in the first inning to build an early lead.
The Normal CornBelters couldn't slow down Joash Brodin, who paced the London Rippers with five hits. He singled in the first, second, and fourth innings, homered in the fifth inning, and doubled in the seventh inning.
Matt Schimpf recorded the win for the London Rippers even though he allowed six runs over six innings. He struck out three, walked two and surrendered eight hits.
Tyler Stovall (1-8) took the loss for the Normal CornBelters. He allowed six runs in two-thirds of an inning, walked three and struck out none.
