The Lake Erie Crushers survive the Florence Freedom 5-3 thanks to Correa's late-game heroics

Wally Correa drove in the winning run to give the Lake Erie Crushers (43-34) the lead in the eighth inning, as the Lake Erie Crushers hung on to beat the Florence Freedom (41-36) 5-3 on Saturday.

Daniel Bowman singled to start the eighth. He then went from first to second on a groundout by Robby Kuzdale. Finally, Correa came to the plate with the score tied at three, and reached on an error, scoring Bowman.

Andrew Davis had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the first and sixth innings.

The Florence Freedom's lineup had no answer for Pat Arnold. The Florence Freedom managed just two hits off of Arnold, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out two during his five innings of work.

Jonathan Kountis improved to 5-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Lake Erie Crushers. Kountis struck out none, walked one and gave up no hits.

Brad Allen ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
