A six-run explosion in the sixth inning led the Lake Erie Crushers (31-25) to an 8-2 win over the Evansville Otters at All Pro Freight Stadium on Friday.
Russell Moldenhauer pushed the Lake Erie Crushers ahead, in the sixth inning, and the lead lasted until the final out. Robby Kuzdale to start the sixth. He then went from first to third on an RBI single by Jason Taylor. Finally, Moldenhauer came to the plate with the score tied at one in the sixth inning, and singled, bringing home Kuzdale.
It was a good day at the plate for the Lake Erie Crushers' Andrew Davis. Davis went 3-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the second, sixth, and eighth innings.
The Lake Erie Crushers relied on Eric Gonzalez-Diaz to eat up innings en route to the win. Gonzalez-Diaz allowed one earned run, five hits and one walk while striking out two over six innings of work.
Matt Zielinski (4-5) took the loss for the Evansville Otters (23-33). He lasted just five innings, walked one, struck out three, and allowed four runs.
