The Traverse City Beach Bums (13-7) used a four-run explosion in the eighth inning to get past the Evansville Otters (7-13) 11-5 on Saturday at Wuerfel Park.

The game was back-and-forth heading into the seventh, with seven lead changes.

Jose Vargas racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Traverse City Beach Bums. He homered in the third inning and singled in the seventh and eighth innings.

Nick Capito shut down the Evansville Otters while he was on the mound. Capito held the Evansville Otters hitless over 2 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Tyree Hayes (0-2) took the loss for the Evansville Otters. He lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out one, and allowed two runs.

The Traverse City Beach Bums easily handled the Evansville Otters pitching as six hitters combined for 14 hits, 11 RBIs and 10 runs scored.
