Four first-inning runs helped the Southern Illinois Miners (44-31) to a 9-4 win over the Rockford RiverHawks (32-43) at Rent One Park, Marion, IL on Thursday.

Gerardo Avila racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Southern Illinois Miners. He homered in the first inning and singled in the second inning.

Evan Button racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Rockford RiverHawks. He singled in the first inning and homered in the seventh inning.

Cody Hall improved to 7-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Southern Illinois Miners. He allowed three runs over six innings. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered nine hits.

Cody Hallahan (5-6) took the loss for the Rockford RiverHawks. He allowed eight runs in two innings, walked two and struck out two.
