The Southern Illinois Miners (30-21) weren't able to come back from the big hole they dug themselves into against the Joliet Slammers (22-29), and the Southern Illinois Miners lost 6-5 to the Joliet Slammers after falling behind by five runs in the fourth inning.

The Southern Illinois Miners scored on an RBI double by Jake Kaase in the sixth inning, an RBI single by Darian Sandford in the seventh inning, and and an RBI single by Cory Harrilchak in the eighth inning. Despite their efforts, the Southern Illinois Miners couldn't get over the hump.

Brad Netzel racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Joliet Slammers. He homered in the fourth inning and singled in the eighth inning.

Sandford racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Southern Illinois Miners.

Jacob Sanchez recorded his second win of the year for the Joliet Slammers. He allowed three runs over 6 2/3 innings. He struck out three, walked two and surrendered six hits.

David Harden couldn't get it done on the hill for the Southern Illinois Miners, taking a loss. He allowed six runs in six innings, walked three and struck out three.
