The Normal CornBelters (10-17) outlasted the Southern Illinois Miners (17-12) on Monday after four lead changes, squeaking out a 5-4 win at Rent One Park, Marion, IL.

The Normal CornBelters would not relinquish the lead as the Southern Illinois Miners were unable to weather a three-run seventh inning deficit.

The Southern Illinois Miners scored two runs in the ninth on two singles. Still, the Southern Illinois Miners couldn't draw even.

Pat Trettel paced the Normal CornBelters at the plate. Trettel went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the second inning and homered in the fifth inning.

The Normal CornBelters relied on Tyler Lavigne to eat up innings en route to the win. Lavigne pitched seven innings and allowed two earned runs, four hits and five walks while striking out three.

Shawn Gilblair (3-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just seven innings, walked one, struck out four, and allowed five runs.
