The Southern Illinois Miners pulled out the win thanks to a strong third inning. A two-run error scored Chad Maddox and Maddox and gave the Southern Illinois Miners the lead for good.

Will Block racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Southern Illinois Miners. He doubled in the second inning and homered in the fourth inning.

Anthony Collazo had an impressive outing against the Schaumburg Boomers' lineup. The Schaumburg Boomers managed just one hit off of Collazo, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his two innings of work.

Brian Fowler recorded his second win of the year for the Southern Illinois Miners. He allowed three runs over five innings. Fowler struck out two, walked none and gave up seven hits.

Jose Rodriguez (1-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 2 1/3 innings, walked four, struck out none, and allowed five runs.
