A superb effort by Cody Griebling lifted the Schaumburg Boomers (38-25) to a 7-1 win over the Joliet Slammers (26-37) on Friday at Schaumburg Baseball Stadium.

Griebling struck out eight hitters en route to the the Schaumburg Boomers win. Griebling allowed one earned run on six hits and no walks over nine innings.

The Schaumburg Boomers' bats came to life in the third inning. The Joliet Slammers had no answer as the Schaumburg Boomers scored five runs.

Karexon Sanchez racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Schaumburg Boomers. He tripled in the third inning and singled in the sixth inning.

Matt Sommo was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked three and struck out four.
