The Schaumburg Boomers (21-13) and the Rockford RiverHawks (12-21) passed the lead back and forth seven times on Saturday at Schaumburg Baseball Stadium, but in the end the Schaumburg Boomers pulled out an 8-5 win over the Rockford RiverHawks.
The Schaumburg Boomers finally managed to grab the lead after a strong eighth inning. An error scored Steve McQuail and gave the Schaumburg Boomers the lead for good.
Nate Baumann was solid at the plate for the Schaumburg Boomers. Baumann went 3-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He homered in the sixth inning and singled in the second and eighth innings.
Patrick Mincey looked sharp on the mound. Mincey held the Rockford RiverHawks hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out four.
Garrett Granitz couldn't get it done on the bump for the Rockford RiverHawks, taking a loss. He lasted just two innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed three runs.
