The Rockford RiverHawks (9-15) built an early edge on Thursday, but the Schaumburg Boomers (16-9) roared back to steal a 3-2 victory at Schaumburg Baseball Stadium.
The Schaumburg Boomers took the lead in the eighth inning on an RBI single by Ty Nelson.
Shane Prance looked sharp on the mound. The Rockford RiverHawks managed just three hits off of Prance, who allowed one earned run, walked four and struck out five during his 6 2/3 innings of work.
Patrick Mincey improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Schaumburg Boomers. Mincey struck out four, walked none and gave up no hits.
Joey Gradney (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed one run.
