The Schaumburg Boomers staved off the River City Rascals as the River City Rascals were unable to match the Schaumburg Boomers down the stretch.

The River City Rascals scored two runs in the ninth on a two-run home run by Gerardo Avila. Still, the River City Rascals couldn't draw even.

Nate Baumann had a busy day at the plate, collecting three extra-base hits. He homered in the second inning and doubled in the fifth and eighth innings.

Dave Whigham improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Schaumburg Boomers. He allowed two runs over two innings. Whigham struck out one, walked one and gave up two hits.

Kelii Zablan couldn't get it done on the mound for the River City Rascals, taking a loss. He lasted just five innings, walked four, struck out two, and allowed four runs.

The Schaumburg Boomers were sparked by Sean Mahley and Baumann, who teamed up for five hits and six RBIs.
