The London Rippers escape the Normal CornBelters behind Schimpf's 4 strikeouts, 7-0

Story by Narrative Science.

Matt Schimpf tossed a shutout to lift the London Rippers (8-10) to a 7-0 win over the Normal CornBelters (4-12) at London, Ontario - Labatt Park.

The Normal CornBelters couldn't get anything going as long as Schimpf was pitching. Schimpf gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out four during his nine innings of work.

Five runs in the opening three innings allowed the London Rippers to easily put away the Normal CornBelters. A two-run home run by David Christensen, an RBI double by Stephen Cardullo, and a two-run home run by Jean-Christophe Paquin in the first inning helped the London Rippers put some runs on the board early.

The London Rippers scored five runs in the first inning to build an early lead.

Daniel Britt (1-2) took the loss for the Normal CornBelters. He allowed seven runs in five innings, walked none and struck out four.

The London Rippers' Joash Brodin, Paquin, Christensen and Tony Delmonico combined for seven hits and six RBIs.
