A superb effort by Justin Sarratt carried the River City Rascals (43-47) to a 6-1 win over the Joliet Slammers on Saturday at Silver Cross Field.

Sarratt kept contact to a minimum, striking out 10 the Joliet Slammers (35-55) batters. Sarratt allowed one earned run on three hits and no walks over seven innings.

Chris Andreas was solid at the plate for the River City Rascals. Andreas went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the fifth inning and singled in the eighth inning.

Erik Lis had a hot bat for the Joliet Slammers. Lis went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the second inning.

Jim Schult was charged with his eighth loss of the year. He lasted just 5 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed four runs.
