David Fox brought home the winning run to give the Joliet Slammers (34-43) the lead in the sixth inning, as the Joliet Slammers hung on to beat the Rockford RiverHawks (33-44) 2-1 on Saturday.

Abel Nieves doubled to start the sixth. He then went from second to third on a single by Kyle Maunus. Finally, Fox came to the plate with the score tied at one in the sixth inning, and singled, bringing home Nieves.

Tommy Mendoza picked up the win for the Joliet Slammers. Mendoza allowed one earned run, four hits and two walks while striking out four over 7 2/3 innings of work.

Despite the loss, the Rockford RiverHawks' Drew Rucinski dominated the Joliet Slammers' batters, giving up two runs and striking out 10.

Rucinski couldn't get it done on the mound for the Rockford RiverHawks, taking a loss.
