The bats were busy at Silver Cross Field on Wednesday, and when the dust cleared the Southern Illinois Miners (22-15) had an 11-8 win over the Joliet Slammers (17-20).
The two teams combined for 23 hits in the game.
The game was back-and-forth heading into the third, with three lead changes.
Ken Gregory racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Southern Illinois Miners. He singled in the first inning, homered in the third inning, and doubled in the ninth inning.
Even though David Harden allowed five runs over seven innings he still recorded the victory, his fifth of the season. Harden struck out three, walked one and gave up six hits.
Steven Maxwell (4-3) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed seven runs in four innings, walked two and struck out one.
