The Schaumburg Boomers (14-8) and the Joliet Slammers (11-11) both threatened with rallies, but it was the Schaumburg Boomers that eventually took advantage of them in a 5-3 win at Silver Cross Field.

The Schaumburg Boomers staved off the Joliet Slammers as the Joliet Slammers were unable to match the Schaumburg Boomers down the stretch.

The Joliet Slammers scored on a wild pitch in the sixth inning and an error and an RBI single by David Fox in the ninth inning. Still, the Joliet Slammers couldn't catch the Schaumburg Boomers.

Gerard Hall racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Schaumburg Boomers. He singled in the first inning and homered in the fifth inning.

Cameron Roth improved to 4-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Schaumburg Boomers. He allowed one run over 6 2/3 innings. Roth struck out two, walked two and gave up eight hits.

Steven Maxwell ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just seven innings, walked one, struck out seven, and allowed four runs.
