The Washington Wild Things (5-8) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 3-1 to the Joliet Slammers (9-6) on Saturday.

The Joliet Slammers took the lead in the seventh inning on an RBI triple by Zach Mandelblatt.

The Washington Wild Things had no answer for Michael Perconte, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Washington Wild Things managed just two hits off of Perconte, who allowed one earned run, walked five and struck out five during his six innings of work.

Robbie Garvey reached base two times in the game for the Washington Wild Things. He scored one run and had one RBI. He homered in the second inning.

Daniel Carela recorded his first win of the year for the Joliet Slammers. Carela struck out none, walked none and gave up no hits.

Chris Smith (0-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just seven innings, walked three, struck out three, and allowed three runs.
