The Joliet Slammers' offense erupts for 15 runs in blowout victory over the Washington Wild Things

The Joliet Slammers (8-6) refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against the Washington Wild Things (5-7), recording a 15-2 victory on Friday at Silver Cross Field.

The game was decided quickly as the Joliet Slammers exerted their will early with eight runs in the first three innings.

An RBI single by Erik Lis during the first inning and an RBI single by Kyle Maunus, a groundout by Ben Hewett, and a solo home run by Abel Nieves in the second inning fueled the Joliet Slammers' offense early.

Nieves led the Joliet Slammers' offensive threat, as he got on base five times in the game. He scored three runs and had three RBIs.

Chase Doremus put together a nice outing. Doremus held the Washington Wild Things hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one.

Eric Binder got the win, running his season record to 2-0. He allowed two runs over five innings. Binder struck out six, walked two and gave up four hits.

Eric Blackwell couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Washington Wild Things, taking a loss. He allowed eight runs in two innings, walked one and struck out two.

The Joliet Slammers pounded the Washington Wild Things pitching, as six hitters combined for 14 hits, 12 RBIs and 13 runs scored.
