The Gateway Grizzlies (27-24) took home a marathon 4-3 victory over the Florence Freedom (28-23) on Saturday at GCS Ballpark - Sauget, IL.

With the Florence Freedom trailing by one in the ninth inning, Peter Fatse came to the plate and doubled, scoring John Malloy.

Fatse pushed the Gateway Grizzlies ahead, in the ninth inning, and the lead lasted until the final out.

Fatse racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Florence Freedom. He singled in the first and sixth innings and doubled in the ninth inning.

Jon Myers had three extra-base hits for the Gateway Grizzlies. He singled in the second inning and doubled in the fourth, sixth, and eighth innings.

The Florence Freedom had no answer for Richard Barrett, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Barrett held the Florence Freedom hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Matt Kline couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Florence Freedom, taking a loss. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed one run.
