The Windy City ThunderBolts hang on against the Gateway Grizzlies, 5-4

The Gateway Grizzlies (23-22) were never able to get over the hump and overcome their troubles against the Windy City ThunderBolts (26-17) on Thursday, as the Gateway Grizzlies fell 5-4 at GCS Ballpark - Sauget, IL after falling behind by five runs in the third inning.

The Gateway Grizzlies scored on an RBI single by Jerod Yakubik in the third inning, a solo home run by Yakubik in the eighth inning, and a two-run home run by Landon Hernandez in the ninth inning. Still, the Gateway Grizzlies couldn't catch the Windy City ThunderBolts.

Mike Torres did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Windy City ThunderBolts, reaching base three times. He singled in the third and fourth innings.

Blayne Weller struck out 13, paving the way for a the Windy City ThunderBolts win. Weller allowed three earned runs on six hits and four walks over 8 1/3 innings.

Yakubik racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Gateway Grizzlies.

Patrick Arnold ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just 2 2/3 innings, walked three, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
