David Harris brought home the go-ahead run to give the Florence Freedom (51-38) the lead in the eighth inning, as the Florence Freedom hung on to beat the Washington Wild Things (38-51) 3-1 on Saturday.
After Pierre LePage singled, Harris came to the plate with the score tied at one, and doubled, scoring LePage.It was a good day at the plate for the Florence Freedom's Eddie Rodriguez. Rodriguez went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the second inning.
Andres Caceres pitched lights out for the Florence Freedom. The Washington Wild Things managed just two hits off of Caceres, who allowed one earned run, walked five and struck out six during his seven innings of work.
A bright spot for the Washington Wild Things in the defeat was Chris Smith, who allowed only one run while striking out nine.
Matt Kline improved to 3-3 on the year by picking up the win for the Florence Freedom. Kline struck out none, walked none and gave up no hits.
Chandler Barnard (1-4) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
