Down two runs in the eighth, the Florence Freedom (51-38) recovered thanks to Junior Arrojo's solo blast in the eighth, and pulled out a 4-3 win over the Washington Wild Things (38-51) on Friday at Home of the Florence Freedom.
With the score tied at three in the eighth inning, Arrojo came to the plate and homered.
Arrojo racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Florence Freedom. He singled in the first and sixth innings and homered in the eighth inning.
Brandon Mathes struck out nine hitters en route to the the Florence Freedom win. Mathes allowed three earned runs on nine hits and one walk over eight innings.
Orlando Santos (1-1) took the loss for the Washington Wild Things. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed one run.
