The Southern Illinois Miners (49-32) and the Florence Freedom (44-38) each put runners in scoring position on Friday, but the Southern Illinois Miners capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 3-2 win at Home of the Florence Freedom.

The Southern Illinois Miners would not relinquish the lead as the Florence Freedom were unable to weather a two-run fourth inning deficit.

The Florence Freedom scored on an RBI single by David Harris in the fifth inning and an RBI single by Eddie Rodriguez in the eighth inning. Unfortunately, the Florence Freedom weren't able to take the lead back.

Chris Anderson got on base three times in the game for the Southern Illinois Miners. He scored two runs and had two RBIs. He homered in the fourth inning.

David Harden picked up the win for the Southern Illinois Miners. Harden pitched 7 2/3 innings and allowed one earned run, eight hits and two walks while striking out two.

Andy Clark (1-1) took the loss for the Florence Freedom. He lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out six, and allowed two runs.
