The Lake Erie Crushers' Erie comes through in the clutch, upends the Florence Freedom, 5-1

Brian Erie brought home the winning run to give the Lake Erie Crushers (21-21) the lead in the eighth inning, as the Lake Erie Crushers hung on to beat the Florence Freedom (23-19) 5-1 on Sunday.

With the score tied at one, Erie came to the plate and hit a grand slam, bringing home Daniel Bowman, Kyle Weldon and Brandon Decker.

Erie racked up four RBIs on one hit for the Lake Erie Crushers. He homered in the eighth inning.

Brad Duffy shut down the Florence Freedom while he was on the mound. The Florence Freedom managed just two hits off of Duffy, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out two during his five innings of work.

Travis Risser recorded his second win of the year for the Lake Erie Crushers. He allowed one run over 2 1/3 innings. Risser struck out one, walked one and gave up three hits.

Daniel DeSimone ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his fourth loss of the year. He lasted just seven innings, walked none, struck out six, and allowed four runs.
