A walk-off solo blast from Chris Curley brought home the winning run for the Florence Freedom (7-8) in an 8-7 victory over the Normal CornBelters (4-9) in 10 innings at Home of the Florence Freedom on Sunday.
Curley racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Florence Freedom. He singled in the third inning, doubled in the sixth inning, and homered in the tenth inning.
Junior Arrojo went a perfect 5-5 at the plate for the Florence Freedom. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the third, sixth, seventh, and ninth innings.
Jose Velazquez got the win, running his season record to 1-0. Velazquez struck out none, walked one and gave up no hits.
Elio Briones couldn't get it done on the bump for the Normal CornBelters, taking a loss. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed one run.
