A walk-off single from Frank Martinez brought home the winning run for the Evansville Otters (39-44) in a 2-1 victory over the Gateway Grizzlies (48-36) in 10 innings at Bosse Field on Sunday.
Nick Schwaner was hot from the plate for the Evansville Otters. Schwaner went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the first inning and homered in the sixth inning.
Matt Zielinski handled the Gateway Grizzlies' lineup with ease, racking up seven strikeouts. Zielinski allowed one earned run, four hits and three walks over 6 2/3 innings.
Dan Marcacci recorded his second win of the year for the Evansville Otters. Marcacci struck out one, walked none and gave up no hits.
Jordan Cudney was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed one run.
