The Southern Illinois Miners (37-26) and the Evansville Otters (27-36) both had scoring chances on Friday, but it was the Southern Illinois Miners that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 5-3 win at Bosse Field.

The Southern Illinois Miners would not relinquish the lead as the Evansville Otters were unable to weather a four-run seventh inning deficit.

The Evansville Otters scored two runs in the seventh on an RBI double by Greg Fontenot and an RBI single by Taylor Black. Unfortunately, the Evansville Otters weren't able to take the lead back.

The Southern Illinois Miners' Jason Ganek was perfect at the dish, going 2-2. He singled in the fifth inning and doubled in the seventh inning.

Daniel Calhoun recorded his fourth win of the year for the Southern Illinois Miners. He allowed three runs over 6 2/3 innings. He struck out six, walked two and surrendered six hits.

Bryce Morrow ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his sixth loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked six, struck out three, and allowed four runs.
