Matt Sheely drove in the winning run to give the Evansville Otters (4-5) the lead in the eighth inning, as the Evansville Otters hung on to beat the Joliet Slammers (4-6) 3-2 on Sunday.
Steven Garcia reached on an error to start the eighth. He then went from first to third. Finally, Sheely came to the plate with the score tied at two, and singled, bringing home Garcia.Garcia paced the Evansville Otters at the plate. Garcia went 3-4 and scored two runs. He doubled in the third inning and singled in the fifth and ninth innings.
Bryce Morrow picked up the win for the Evansville Otters. Morrow allowed two earned runs, three hits and no walks while striking out two over seven innings of work.
Geoff Brown (0-1) took the loss for the Joliet Slammers. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed one run.
