The Evansville Otters (3-4) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 3-2 to the Joliet Slammers (3-5) on Friday.

The Joliet Slammers took the lead in the seventh inning on an RBI single by Abel Nieves.

Hector Pellot got on base three times in the game for the Joliet Slammers. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He singled in the second inning and homered in the sixth inning.

Chase Doremus recorded his first win of the year for the Joliet Slammers. Doremus struck out two, walked none and gave up two hits.

Matt Crim (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just six innings, walked one, struck out none, and allowed three runs.

The top of the second saw the Evansville Otters take an early lead, 1-0. Steven Garcia doubled to ignite the Evansville Otters' offense.

The Joliet Slammers answered the Evansville Otters' top inning with one run of their own in the second. The Joliet Slammers scored on a sacrifice fly by Brad Netzel.

The lead stayed with the Joliet Slammers after the seventh, when they scored one run on an RBI single by Nieves.
