After nine lead changes in Monday's game at Cardines Field, the Newport Gulls (30-10) finally pulled out a 6-4 win over the Sanford Mainers (14-25).

The Newport Gulls finally managed to grab the lead after a strong sixth inning. Scored Blake Butera and gave the Newport Gulls the lead for good.

Matt Pare boosted his batting average thanks to a perfect 2-2 day at the plate to pace the Newport Gulls. He singled in the second inning and doubled in the fourth inning.

Caleb Kellogg brought the heat against the Sanford Mainers during his outing. Kellogg held the Sanford Mainers hitless over 1 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

Tripp Davis (2-5) took the loss for the Sanford Mainers. He lasted just one inning, walked four, struck out two, and allowed two runs.
