Alex Baldock drove in the go-ahead run to give the New Bedford Bay Sox (14-9) the lead in the sixth inning, as the New Bedford Bay Sox hung on to beat the Newport Gulls (15-5) 3-2 on Thursday.
After Alex Black was hit by a pitch, Baldock singled, scoring Black.The New Bedford Bay Sox would not relinquish the lead as the Newport Gulls were unable to weather a two-run sixth inning deficit.
The Newport Gulls scored on in the seventh inning and a sacrifice fly by Matt Pare in the eighth inning. Unfortunately, the Newport Gulls weren't able to take the lead back.
Luke Farrell had an impressive outing against the Newport Gulls' lineup. Farrell held the Newport Gulls hitless over four innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out eight.
Isaac Greenspon got the win, running his season record to 4-1. He allowed one run over 2 2/3 innings. He struck out four, walked six and surrendered two hits.
Tanner Chleborad (2-2) took the loss for the Newport Gulls. He lasted just six innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed two runs.
