A four-run explosion in the eighth inning carried the Keene Swamp Bats (14-4) to a 7-1 win over the North Adams SteepleCats (12-8) at Joe Wolfe Field on Sunday.
Cameron OBrien pushed the Keene Swamp Bats ahead, in the seventh inning, and the lead lasted until the final out. Jared Walsh singled to start the seventh. He then went from first to second on a single by Dylan DelaCruz. Finally, OBrien came to the plate with the score tied at one in the seventh inning, and hit a sacrifice fly, bringing home Walsh.
Grant Kay did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Keene Swamp Bats, reaching base three times. He doubled in the sixth inning and singled in the eighth inning.
The Keene Swamp Bats relied on Joe Pistorese to eat up innings en route to the win. Pistorese pitched nine innings and allowed one earned run, seven hits and two walks while striking out six.
Charlie Law couldn't get it done on the hill for the North Adams SteepleCats, taking a loss. He lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out five, and allowed three runs.
