The Keene Swamp Bats (12-4) took the last of seven lead changes in a back-and-forth affair against the Danbury Westerners (8-10), securing a 8-7 victory on Friday at Rogers Park.
Frankie Schwindel had two extra-base hits for the Keene Swamp Bats. He singled in the third inning, doubled in the sixth inning, and homered in the eighth inning.
The Danbury Westerners had no answer for Tyler Gauthier, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Gauthier held the Danbury Westerners hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.
Mike Orefice got on base four times in the game for the Danbury Westerners. He scored one run and had one RBI. He singled in the first and fifth innings and doubled in the seventh inning.
Tyler Dunaway ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
The Keene Swamp Bats' Schwindel, JP Sportman, Grant Kay and Jared Walsh combined for nine hits and eight RBIs.
