Down five runs in the fourth, the Danbury Westerners (8-9) recovered thanks to Sean Smedley's single in the sixth, and pulled out a 12-6 win over the Mystic Schooners (2-13) on Thursday at Fitch High School.

With the score tied at six in the sixth inning, Smedley came to the plate and singled, bringing home Chase Butler.

Smedley led the Danbury Westerners' offensive threat, as he got on base two times in the game. He singled in the sixth inning.

The Danbury Westerners blew out the Mystic Schooners thanks to 10 hits, including zero extra base hits. The Danbury Westerners scored six runs in the sixth on a groundout by Andrew Garner, an RBI single by Josh Ake, a sacrifice fly by Kyle Wernicki, an RBI single by Smedley, , , and an RBI single by Mike Orefice.

Mathew Boulter racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Danbury Westerners.

Zachary Tax got the win, running his season record to 1-0. Tax struck out one, walked one and gave up one hit.

Jeremy Soule (1-1) took the loss for the Mystic Schooners. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed four runs.
