Garner stars as the Danbury Westerners defeat the Keene Swamp Bats, 9-8

Wednesday was a great day for Andrew Garner, as he clubbed two home runs to carry the Danbury Westerners (4-6) to a 9-8 victory over the Keene Swamp Bats (6-2) at Roger's Park.

The Danbury Westerners were in a difficult situation in the fourth inning before they recovered for the win.

Each team blasted the other's pitching, and there were 17 total runs and 24 hits during the game. Relief pitchers got their fill of innings during the game, with the opposing managers using eight pitchers in total.

The Keene Swamp Bats had no answer for Ben Brewster, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Keene Swamp Bats managed just one hit off of Brewster, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three during his two innings of work.

David Mahoney (0-1) took the loss for the Keene Swamp Bats. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed no runs.

The Danbury Westerners' Jake Gronsky, Garner and Zach Shank combined for nine hits and six RBIs.
