Troy Black drove in the go-ahead run to give the Sanford Mainers (3-6) the lead in the seventh inning, as the Sanford Mainers hung on to beat the New Bedford Bay Sox (5-4) 5-1 on Tuesday.
Anthony Hajjar to start the seventh. He then went from first to third on a single by Brett Armour. Finally, Black came to the plate with the Sanford Mainers trailing by one, and doubled, plating Hajjar and Armour.Jose Torralba led the Sanford Mainers' offensive threat, as he got on base four times in the game. He singled in the eighth and ninth innings.
The New Bedford Bay Sox had no answer for Eric Ashworth, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The New Bedford Bay Sox managed just one hit off of Ashworth, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out three during his four innings of work.
Despite the loss, the New Bedford Bay Sox's Donald Murray dominated the Sanford Mainers' batters, giving up zero runs and striking out five.
Charlie Haslup got the win, running his season record to 1-0. Haslup struck out three, walked none and gave up two hits.
Isaac Greenspon ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 2 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed four runs.
