The Vermont Mountaineers (1-3) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 5-2 to the Keene Swamp Bats (2-1) on Sunday.
The Keene Swamp Bats took the lead in the sixth inning on an RBI single by Dylan DelaCruz.
Ryan Beal paced the Keene Swamp Bats at the plate. Beal went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the fifth inning and tripled in the ninth inning.
The Vermont Mountaineers had no answer for Kevin McAvoy, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Vermont Mountaineers managed just three hits off of McAvoy, who allowed one earned run, walked two and struck out four during his five innings of work.
Alex Haines couldn't get it done on the bump for the Vermont Mountaineers, taking a loss. He lasted just six innings, walked none, struck out four, and allowed three runs.
