The Corvallis Knights jump on the Klamath Falls Gems early and coast to 9-3 win

The Corvallis Knights (30-21) jumped out to an early lead on the Klamath Falls Gems (25-26) and captured a 9-3 victory on Monday at Kiger Stadium.

Five runs in the first three innings allowed the Corvallis Knights to put the game away early.

A two-run double by Caleb Whalen during the first inning and an RBI single by Connor Hofmann, an RBI single by Hofmann, an RBI double by Dane Lund, and an RBI single by Greg Mahle in the second inning helped the Corvallis Knights put some runs on the board early.

Hofmann racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Corvallis Knights.

The Klamath Falls Gems had no answer for Kyle Hart, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Klamath Falls Gems managed just one hit off of the the Corvallis Knights' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his 2 2/3 innings of work.

Greg Velazquez reached base three times in the game for the Klamath Falls Gems. He also drove in one runner. He singled in the second and fourth innings.

Christian Coronado was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked one, struck out four, and allowed five runs.
