The Kelowna Falcons (3-3) came out firing, but couldn't hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 6-2 ballgame against the Cowlitz Black Bears (3-5) on Wednesday at Elks Stadium.

The Cowlitz Black Bears took the lead in the seventh inning.

The Cowlitz Black Bears were led by a flawless day at the dish by Nick Paxton, who went 2-2 against the Kelowna Falcons' pitching. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the ninth inning.

Alec Cordova pitched 5 2/3 innings and allowed no earned runs, four hits and one walk while striking out three.

Koby Gauna recorded his first win of the year for the Cowlitz Black Bears. Gauna struck out three, walked one and gave up two hits.

Preston Gray was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 2 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
