The East (0-1) didn't put up much of a fight on Saturday, as the West (1-0) cruised to a blowout 8-0 win at Veterans Field.
The West scored four runs in the eighth on the West scored in the eighth on a hit by pitch, an RBI single by Dylan Busby, a sacrifice fly by Zach Rutherford, and an RBI single by Connor Wong.
Tyler Lawrence put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the West. He homered in the second inning, doubled in the sixth inning, and singled in the ninth inning.
Garrett Cave put together a nice outing. Cave held the East hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.
Jeffrey Passantino improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the West. Passantino struck out one, walked none and gave up no hits.
The West were sparked by Wong and Lawrence, who teamed up for seven hits and five RBIs.
Joe Ryan was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out three, and allowed three runs.
