The Yorkton Cardinals (19-15) and the Fort McMurray Giants (11-26) both had scoring chances on Wednesday, but it was the Yorkton Cardinals that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 7-2 win at Shell Place.
Cory Cantebury was hot from the plate for the Yorkton Cardinals. Cantebury went 2-5, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the third inning and doubled in the fourth inning.
The Yorkton Cardinals relied on Gavin Collins to eat up innings en route to the win. Collins pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run, seven hits and two walks while striking out three.
Brandon Desjardins (0-4) took the loss for the Fort McMurray Giants. He lasted just 2 1/3 innings, walked four, struck out none, and allowed five runs.
