An awesome effort by Nate Schweers led the Licking County Settlers (14-10) to a 10-0 win over the Richmond Jazz (7-16) on Thursday at McBride Stadium.
Schweers held the Richmond Jazz scoreless during his nine innings of work. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on four hits while striking out eight.
Eight runs in the opening three innings allowed the Licking County Settlers to easily put away the Richmond Jazz. An RBI triple by Mason McClellan and a two-run home run by Kyle Hubbuch during the first inning supplied the early offense for the Licking County Settlers.
McClellan reached base three times. He scored two runs and had one RBI.
Pete Wissel (0-2) took the loss for the Richmond Jazz. He allowed six runs in 2 1/3 innings, walked three and struck out two.
