The Yorkton Cardinals (8-8) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 7-6 to the Swift Current Indians (11-3) on Thursday.

The Swift Current Indians took the lead in the ninth inning on an RBI single by Luis Rivas.

Rivas racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Swift Current Indians. He singled in the fifth, seventh, and ninth innings.

The Yorkton Cardinals had no answer for Ryan Pope, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Yorkton Cardinals managed just one hit off of Pope, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during his 1 1/3 innings of work.

Cory Cantebury racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Yorkton Cardinals. He homered in the first inning.
