Early boost from Mathis helps the Chatham Anglers get past the Bourne Braves, 8-3

The Chatham Anglers (6-6) jumped on the Bourne Braves (7-4) early on their way to an 8-3 win on Wednesday at Doran Park, scoring three runs in the first inning.

The Chatham Anglers scored in the first on a groundout by Patrick Mathis and a two-run single by Sean Bouchard.

DJ Artis did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Chatham Anglers, reaching base four times. He scored two runs and had two RBIs. He singled in the sixth and eighth innings.

The Chatham Anglers couldn't get anything going as long as Ronnie Rossomando was pitching. Rossomando held the Chatham Anglers hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

Michael Dibrell improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Chatham Anglers. He allowed three runs over five innings. He struck out four, walked three and surrendered six hits.

Ty Cohen couldn't get it done on the bump for the Bourne Braves, taking a loss. He lasted just four innings, walked three, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
