The Grand Lake Mariners' late runs seal 9-3 blowout over the Lorain County Ironmen

The Grand Lake Mariners (2-0) blew out the Lorain County Ironmen (1-3) 9-3 on Tuesday at Coldwater, OH after pouring on five runs in the eighth inning.

The Grand Lake Mariners scored in the eighth on , a double by Kyle Schimpf, an RBI single by Derek Parola, a hit by pitch, an error, and a fielder's choice.

The Lorain County Ironmen were ahead early but they ultimately surrendered the lead for good. The Lorain County Ironmen were ahead until the fourth inning, but the Grand Lake Mariners would not be denied the win, taking the lead back on an RBI single by Schimpf.

Schimpf racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Grand Lake Mariners.

Nicholas Newton had an impressive outing against the Lorain County Ironmen's lineup. Newton held the Lorain County Ironmen hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two.

Justin Palmbos got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed three runs over six innings. Palmbos struck out eight, walked none and gave up seven hits.

Russell Lamovec was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked three, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
