Jimmy Kerr had two extra base hits, helping the Lake Erie Monarchs (1-1) to a 6-4 victory over the Irish Hills Leprechauns (1-1) on Sunday at Sienna Heights University.
He singled in the fourth inning and doubled in the first and sixth innings.The Irish Hills Leprechauns had no answer for Jordan Kesson, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Kesson held the Irish Hills Leprechauns hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.
The Lake Erie Monarchs were sparked by Ross Haffey and Kerr, who teamed up for six hits and four RBIs.
Brandon Phelps was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
