The Springfield Sliders (5-2) beat the Lafayette Aviators (4-4) 7-3 on Friday at Lafayette, Loeb Stadium behind William Elliott, who drove in three runs.

Peter Young brought the heat against the Lafayette Aviators during his outing. Young held the Lafayette Aviators hitless over 1 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

Riley Benner racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Lafayette Aviators. He singled in the first, fifth, and eighth innings.

Jose Marin improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Springfield Sliders. He allowed three runs over four innings. He struck out seven, walked none and surrendered eight hits.

Steven Skolarz (0-1) took the loss for the Lafayette Aviators. He lasted just 2 2/3 innings, walked three, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
