Four first-inning runs helped the Newark Pilots (29-21) to a 9-5 win over the Utica Blue Sox (31-18) at Colburn Park on Sunday.
The Newark Pilots scored in the first on an RBI single by Julian Gallup, a two-run double by Bo-Hao Huang, and an RBI triple by Chase Cockrell.
Gallup did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Newark Pilots, reaching base four times. He scored three runs and had one RBI.
Taylor Olmstead racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Utica Blue Sox. He singled in the fourth inning, doubled in the sixth inning, and tripled in the ninth inning.
Sam Harrington improved to 3-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Newark Pilots. He allowed two runs over six innings. He struck out one, walked three and surrendered four hits.
Jared Solomon (1-1) took the loss for the Utica Blue Sox. He allowed six runs in two innings, walked three and struck out one.
