Andrew Turner had three extra base hits as the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs (6-7) took home a 6-5 victory over the Amsterdam Mohawks (8-6) at Veterans Memorial Park on Saturday.

Zachary Vennaro pitched lights out for the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs. The Amsterdam Mohawks managed just one hit off of Vennaro, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during his 1 1/3 innings of work.

Mike Appel improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs. He allowed three runs over six innings. He struck out seven, walked five and surrendered three hits.

Johnny Malatesta (1-1) took the loss for the Amsterdam Mohawks. He lasted just three innings, walked two, struck out six, and allowed two runs.
